Queen Anne County Council of Homemaker
November 15, 2016
The Fall Luncheon of the Queen Anne County Council of Homemakers was called to order on November 15, 2016 by Vice President Dottie Grier at 10:30 a.m. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang “God Bless America.” We recided the Homemakers Creed. Jeanette Miller led us in prayer. Elaine Dow, President of Septem Homemakers, welcomed us on behalf of Our Host Club.
Past Council President and presiding Club Presidents were recognized.

The minutes were read. Mary Ellen Leverton moved and Lillian Kirby seconded a motion to approve the minutes. Motion passed.
The Treasurer’s Report showed balances of (on file) in the Checking Account and (on File) in the C.D. Phyllis Boone and Mary Ellen Leaverton seconded a motion to accept the Report. Motion passed. The Report was filed for Audit.
Home Arts Chair, Mary Ellen Leaverton, reported that shelves will be on the left and right of the Home Arts Building. The ad in the Fair Booklet will be $150.00. Lucretia Kennard will do the decorating and host the raffle.
Health Chair, Barbara Hanifee, told us that eating mustard will relieve leg cramps, putting bar soap in a sock near the cramp will relieve the cramps and eating raisins at night can relieve excessive nightly urinating.
Historian, Ethel Boyle, reported that Jean Haymaker made the beautiful name tags.
Scholarship Chair, Annabelle Taylor, introduced our Scholarship winner, Jennifer Kelly. Jennifer is a Freshman at Chesapeake College. Her goal is to become a veterinarian. She now works in a kennel.
Webpage Chair, Elaine Dow, reported that the webpage is back up and up-to-date. She reminded us that garlic raised in China was “hit” by a disease, Check to see where it was raised.
Annabelle Taylor moved that our President appointed a Homemakers recognition Award Committee of 3 person (a chair and two others) at our January meeting; and that each club submit one name to be considered for the 2016 award. The committee would select one or two persons from those nominated. The selected would be honored at our Spring 2017 Luncheon meeting. Louise Kirby seconded the motion. Motion passed.
New Business
Phyllis Boone suggested the Luncheons be changed to a covered-dish luncheon. It will be discussed at the January meeting. Also, could the C.D. funds be used for the Scholarship?
Dottie Grier challenged each club to grow by 3 members.
Elaine Dow introduced our speaker, Dr. Dwayne Gills, an allergist from Centreville. He presented much information about allergies. (6% of children and 3% of adults have allergies.) He hosted a question and answer session.
The Rev. Mark Farnell led us in Grace before lunch.
After lunch, we held the Tea cup Raffle which earned $122.00.
Door Prizes were distributed.
Ann Vogt moved and Mary Ellen Leaverton seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion passed. The Luncheon was adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
