The Queen Anne County Council of Homemakers’ Spring Luncheon was called to order at 10:00 am on April 4, 2019 by President Dottie Grier. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang “God Bless America.” We recited the Homemaker’s Creed. Elaine Dow, president of Septem Homemakers welcomed us on behalf of our host club. Members who worked on the Wye Mill project were recognized. Past County Presidents and current Club Presidents were recognized.

The Minutes were read. Ethel Boyle moved and Carol Wilson seconded a motion to accept the Minutes. Motion passed.
Treasurer Annabelle Taylor reported balances of (Balance of file) in the Checking Account and (Balance of File) in the C.D.’s. Anne Vogt moved and Roxanne Hollis seconded a motion to accept the report. Motion passed. The report was filed for audit.
Health Issues Chair, Phyllis Boone, take your medication. Talk to your doctor when there is a reaction. Make sure that you take them when you should.
Scholarship Chair, Annabelle Taylor, reported there were no changes. Contact your school’s Guidance Counselor with any possible recipients.
Home Arts Chair, Mary Ellen Leaverton, reported that Memorial Bricks are still available. The Fair will be August 11th – 17th. The Stitch in Time award will be given. Pewter Cups are still $25 each. There will be 17 awarded this year. Something for Seniors to do on Thursday needs to be available. Each Club needs to contribute either a healthy snack or sample item for 100 bags for Senior Give-a-way.
Historian, Ethel Boyle, reported that all books are up to date.
Webpage Chair, Elaine Dow, reported that the page is up to date. French’s products are now with McCormick spices. Do not use any other romaine lettuce except locally grown. On June 1, Maryland’s most controversial Women in History will be featured.

Guest Speaker was Mary Margaret Goodwin, Queen Anne County Historian, told us many things, Kent Island was a part of Jamestown, Virginia at one time. This is the 400th Anniversary of their leaving Angola to be here. The House there needs to repaired and restored. This is to become Maryland’s Home of Women’s History Museum. Guide Star need to certify that it is clean. It is to open in August, 2020 on the anniversary of women’s right to vote. On July 14 at White Marsh the first Women-in-Maryland’s Agriculture Festival will be held.
Each club showed their baby quilts and afghans. A rose afghan will be raffled at the Fair.
Door Prizes were awarded.
Jackie Veance moved and Kelly Somers seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion passed. The meeting part of the Luncheon was adjourned at 12:45 pm.
