The January 14, 2020 meeting of the Queen Anne’s County Council of Homemakers was called to order at 9:50 am by President Dottie Grier. Roxanne Hollis led us in prayer. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Homemakers Creed.

The minutes were read and corrected. Mary Ellen Leaverton moved and Roxanne Hollis seconded a motion to approve to accept the minutes as corrected. Motion passed.
Treasurer Annabelle Taylor reported balances of (total on file) in the checking Account and (total on file) in the C.D. Ann Vogt moved and Mary Ellen Leaverton seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Motion passed. The report was filed for audit.
Mr. John Niger and Mr. Robert Zimmerman and their staff were present. Mr. Niger showed us the results of the procedure for preserving the grain bags from Wye Mill. They presented “Thank You Gifts” for the 8 volunteers who completed the project. Mr. Zimmerman will be with us at our April Luncheon.
Health Chair, Phyllis Boone, showed us how to do a self Heimlich Maneuver procedure to stop choking.
Historian, Ethel Boyle stated all records were up-to-date.
Home Arts Chair Mary Ellen Leaverton reported that the Fair thanked those volunteers who judged, helped with the Chicken Barbecue, helped the judges decorate, helped with decorating and taking down items, donating sewing machines, helped with pillow making supplies, purchsed pewter cups and food preparation for the judges. A memorial brick will be laid for Lucy “Cookie” McElroy. Thursday was Senior Citizens Day. Bags with goodies were given 78 seniors. Pillow Making will be held Monday to Friday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We need material, stuffing and thread. The 2020 Fair will be held August 10th-15th.
Elaine Dow reported that the Web Site Page is up-to-date. She gave us information about “Memory Bears.”
Our Scholarship recipient is Bridget King.
New County Nutritionist, Cheryl Bush, was introduced. She would like to visit each club.
The Fall Luncheon was rated as “Great.” The food was “Outstanding.”
Our Spring Luncheon will be on April 14, 2020. Templeville Club will be our hosts.
Each club gave their yearly report. After our President’s Report, Ann Vogt moved and Mary Ellen Leaverton seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 11:58 am so that we could enjoy a tasty and wonderful covered-dish meal.
